Featured Ensemble: the Steampunk Faerie. Beautiful and strange, this doll-like creature captures the imagination with an enigmatic glance. Is she a case of Nature imitating Science? Is she Science mimicking Nature? Ask her and she will smile at you, but she will not answer or speak of her past. The Steampunk Faerie works in a tinker shop, making and selling mechanical birds. On sunny days she stands on the street bedecked in them, charming street urchins and noblemen alike with an armful of cheeping, wing-flexing creations. Sometimes she even sings and hops about with them, but she stops whenever aeroships pass over head. A strange shadow then falls across her elegant features -- some say of envy, others of fear. Could it be that she longs to fly as highly and freely as them? Could it be that when no one is looking she does? Carefree, haunted, mechanical, real; the Steampunk Faerie embodies the paradoxical contradictions of her Age.
DESIGNS FOR SALE:
Steampunk Tinker Choker. This unique choker is a study in contrasts. Plush velvet ribbon is threaded through a battered metal chain, while a delicate filigree locket can be worn closed as a pendant or open as a kind of steampunk pocket watch. A gear and a golden clock hand have been glued to the clock face to prettily catch the light even when the locket is closed. $15. Inquire to purchase.

Illuminati Hat. Completely one of a kind, this miniature Victorian top-hat was crafted from a vintage metal tin and unexpected ragged-yet-pretty pheasant feathers. But of course, metallic flowers and Victorian charm aside, no Steampunk accessory would be complete without technology -- here, a miniature [long-life battery-powered] candle illuminates the hat from within! Thin foam bottom can be punctured to replace candle battery, but candle should last for many wearings in the dark. Cast beautiful, mysterious shadows every time you pin this hat at a jaunty angle on your head. $40. Inquire to purchase.
Steampunk Arrow Broach. Also completely one of a kind, this peculiar Steampunk broach focuses on the contrast between a masculine, geometric shape and ornate, feminine details. A bow of ribbon in a classic steampunk color scheme frames a bright pop of color in the form of a ladylike resin cameo, which is turn framed by pair of shiny filigree wings. This broach is sturdy and clip-shaped, meaning that it can slide neatly onto suspender straps, the lab-coat pocket, or a lady's bag of maps. $26. Inquire to purchase.
Clockwork Earrings. Incredibly ornate, these intricate earrings are composed solely of salvaged watch parts. Variegated colors (gold, silver, copper, and brass) allow these earrings to complement any manner of steampunk ensemble, be it a cool-toned lady undertaker's or the bright Earthy oufit of a dusty aeronaut. Delicate but solidly constructed. $38. Inquire to purchase.
Proper Ladylike Collar. Prim and upright, yet just a pinch demure with a decadent clasp. This detached collar is made of subtly patterned vintage menswear wool, lined with the softest of black jerseys we could find. Unique, hand-stitched gold lace add a regal feeling to this piece, while a charming vintage rose broach draws attention to one's exposed skin with a pretty pearl teardrop. Perhaps not so proper after all... $22. Inquire to purchase.
Pearl and Key Choker. Cool, heavy, gorgeously antiqued pearls form a simple, elegant choker punctuated by a dramatic golden key. A small gem in the center of the key beautifully catches the light, while a frill of coppery tulle adds textural interest to the piece. This necklace is a little bit brighter and softer-toned than the typical, rugged Steampunk accessory, making it ideal for an Earthy-yet-ethereal Steampunk Faerie. $30. Inquire for price.
Steampunk Clockwork Bird Purse. Inspired by the beautiful mechanical birds made everyday by the Steampunk Faerie, this beautiful little evening bag of bright gold satin is adorned with a clock face and flying bird charm. Pheasant feathers, metallic leaves, and brown- and black-checkered ribbon add interest as well as complement the other accessories of this line. $25. Inquire to purchase.
The Inner Workings of the Heart Necklace. Frame if you will a portrait of your beloved -- or leave the real nature of your heart exposed. Pretty salvaged watch gears catch the light when the locket is open, or remain hidden behind an antique-inspired brass exterior etched in black. The classic black and brown ribbon can be worn loose like a string tie (very pretty over a keyhole neckline) or looped into a playful bow. $18. Inquire to purchase.
Steampunk Circle Skirt. We took the idea of a classic circle skirt and Steampunked it out by cutting it unevenly and attaching a ragged, similarly asymmetrical cinolin of golden tulle underneath. A generous waistband sits conservatively at the natural waist, but a thigh-skimming hemline keeps the gentlemen guessing. Fabric is vintage menswear wool. (Worn high-waisted, fits a 29" waist comfortably with some room.) $34. Inquire to purchase.
Steampunk Bodice Overcoat. A necessary garment for any Steampunk wardrobe: a utilitarian yet romantic overcoat consisting of a stiff-front Elizabethan bodice that flows effortlessly into a full half-skirt. Unexpected over a miniskirt; gorgeous over a full gown. This piece was sewn out of a soft, heavyweight vintage cotton, stiffed with boning and interfacing and then uniquely adorned with real leather belt fragments and a faux leather-and-brass shoulder strap. Zips tidily up the back. We paired this flouncy yet down-to-Earth overcoat with a gorgeous ivory stretch-lace shirt from Banana Republic. In addition to the unique pattern of its lace, the most charming feature of this top is its neckline: a plunging keyhole held demurely shut by pearly toggle buttons and a tall Victorian collar. Overcoat and shirt can be purchased separately or together. $86. Inquire to purchase.
Steampunk Hatpiece. A piece of peculiarly steampunk flare, this hatpiece (or broach if you should so desire) creates a textural flourish on the humblest of hats. A large, soft, woven "button" is adorned with a Victorian charm at the center, then given character by a mixture of feathers, a ray of black vintage lace, and a golden clock hand that beautifully catches the light. $17. Inquire to purchase.
Steampunk Garter and Bracelet. Another celebration of the contrast between tough, masculine elements (here, faux leather belts) and feminine Victorian frills (cotton ruffles.) We paired this simple belt-garter with woven over-the-knee socks from Forever XXI (you can buy them if you want, but they are muddy from exploring a graveyard!) and wore this bracelet over fingerless wool mittens from Anthropologie. These are basic and cheerful, so accessorize creatively! $10. Inquire to purchase.
Steampunk Shoes? Okay, so we didn't make the shoes OR the charms, but we had the brilliant idea of pairing them together! Faux wood heels add a delightful touch to these strangely Victorian suede-and-patent peep-toe Oxford hybrids, while vintage gold earrings (trilliums with a tiny pearl inset at the center) upgrade the look into something interesting and faerie-like. Size 9. $25. Inquire to purchase.
Inimitable and utterly one-of-a-kind, the steampunk faerie wings were born from months of experimentation with diverse materials. Two layers of gold-painted screen have been painstakingly pinched together with a lightweight sculpting material, then capped in layers of varnished cardstock (the secret to avoiding top-heavy wings!) and joined with an architectural arc. The screen of the wings encases a series of intricate handmade metallic gears, and is accented by a complex array of varnished wires and copper tubing. At the center of the wings is a small Steampunk engine, powdered not only by mysterious knobs and wires but also by a removable flame! Turn off the lights and let the glow of candle-light play beautifully from the golden screen. Or, in broad daylight, admire the exotic sillhouette of the gears... $255. Inquire to purchase.
