
| Sizing Guide. If you have never done it before, the easiest way to obtain your measurements is to go to a tailor or department store and have a seamstress or tailor take your measurements. If you are taking your measurements yourself or with a friend, you may find the following tips helpful. Tools. All you need is a measuring tape and something to write down your measurements on! Having a friend helps. Tips for using the measuring tape. Hold the tape snugly to your body, but not so tightly that you indent your flesh. Do not add additional inches to your measurements -- we will factor in the seam allowances for you! Wear your undergarments when taking measurements if you will be wearing them with your costume. When measuring a floor-length item be sure to wear the shoes you will be wearing when you wear this item. Try not to suck in your stomach when you measure it or it will distort the size of your garment. Common measurements: Height: Stand barefoot with feet together and your back against a wall. Measure from top of head to floor. Chest: Take measurement at the fullest point of the chest. The tape should go under your arms and around your shoulder blades. Bust: Measure the circumference around the fullest point of the bust while wearing a bra. As above, keep the tape under the arms and around the shoulder blades. Waist: Measure the circumference of the smallest part of the natural waist (NOT hips, see below) above the hipbone. Hips: Stand with your feet together and wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bottom. Upper arm: Measure around the fullest part of your upper arm below the shoulder (bicep). Arm length: Measure the length of your arm from your shoulder to your wrist. Shoulders: Measure the widest part of your back from shoulder to shoulder across the shoulder blades. Neck: Measure the circumference of your neck. If you are commissioning a choker, measure at the height you will wear it at. Inseam: Measure from your groin to the floor (this is the inside seam of your pants.) Special Measurements: If you are commissioning a hat, gloves, an elaborate accessory, or anything else with an unconventional / multi-body-part-covering shape, we may request more detailed measurements of the specific area in question.
