| Featured Ensemble: the Ocean's Muse. In a territory rife with murderous sirens, the Ocean's Muse is a rare benevolent beauty. Described as "half mermaid and half faerie", she lies gracefully upon the rocks and allows her fin-like wings to dry, catching the light with golden iridescence and attracting far-off ships as she does so. She thinks constantly of poetry and art, unaware that her own hunt for inspiration inspires all who are fortunate enough to see her. It is said that the flowing cut of her gown and her elegant features inspired the artist Mucha, who later became synonymous with the movement called Art Nouveau. No one knows if the Ocean's Muse can sing, but it is thought that if she opened her mouth to speak the beauty of the sound would haunt the listener forever... |

| Ocean's Muse Art Nouveau Dress. This elegant flowing halter gown was inspired by the maidens of Art Nouveau. We hand-sewed soft, beachy linen until it had a flowing mermaid-like train, then created an ornate neckline from wood and a giant eye-catching scallop. The color of the dress is slightly desaturated in the photoshoot, so please refer to the detailed image to the left; there you can see that it is actually a warm, salmon-coral color shot through with subtle threads of gold. | Ocean's Muse Bracelet. A stunning cuff of coral and sea fans hand-sculpted and painted in warm hues of gold and salmon. Small delicate flowers add textural interest; the overall effect is one of beauty and bounty. $18. | Art Nouveau Hairpiece. This beautiful deconstructed hairpiece can be whatever you make it. We choose to weave the stems of the two silk lilies into our model's bun, then pin the pearl and sheer ribbon necklace across the crown of her head like a headband. We curled the poseable faux pearl trim across the back of her hair for interest, then let the irridescent scraps float free. However, pre-photoshoot we also discovered that we liked to tuck the lillies behind her ears, creating a look reminiscent of a Mucha portrait. $13. Inquire to purchase. |
| Light, airy, and organic, the Ocean Muse's wings were inspired by the fins of mythological fish. Shimmering golden "veins" are webbed with transluscent, hand-painted fabrics; the top wings are pink sheer painted in gold and the bottoms are a crinkled iridescent-orange sheer decorated with pink-gold fabric and glitter. Iridescent paint dabbed artfully throughout adds even more oceanic texture, while the single painted scallop shell and delicate blossoms at the center add a beautiful Art Nouveau touch. $62. | Otherworldly Flower Accessories. These delicate paper flowers have been dyed in ethereal hues of turquoise, lavender, yellow, and robin's egg blue. We crafted them into pins, hair clips, and a simple yet striking assymetrical cord-and-flower necklace. | Featured Ensemble: the Seelie Nymph. Look closely. You have seen her before. Once, long ago, when you were a child, you were wandering the forest just before dusk, and you caught a glimpse -- a fleeting glimpse -- of her silent, watchful, ethereal face. Do you remember? All children have seen her hand resting delicately on the trunk of a tree, and all children have experienced wonder at the sight of her glistening, butterfly wings. Unfortunately, far too few remember what now seems to be a childhood dream... their first and last encounter with the guardian of the forest, the benevolent Seelie Nymph. She is the one who protects human children from the dangers of the wild wood, the one who paves the way for adventure and exploration by silently clearing brambles and soothing the hungry wolves. She asks for nothing in exchange for her favors, except perhaps the simple faith that she is there... |

| Inspired by tiger swallowtail butterflies, these wings were hand-made from a unique sheer fabric that shimmers gold and blue in different lights. Carefully patterned lace overlay mimics the pattern of a tiger swallowtail while still allowing white to shine through, and dramatic fabric edging creates a striking sillhouette. The sweet butterfly nature of these wings prompted us to pair them with a Seelie nymph costume, but their sharp edges and icy color scheme could easily compliment a darker, more Gothic ensemble. $95. | A note about the Seelie Nymph's dress: The dress our Seelie Nymph is wearing was not created by Sidhe Designs! We WISH we had thought of this simple yet beautiful faerie gown, but we actually found it at a retail store in Chicago. We were so moved by the suppleness of the sea-foam silk that we had to try it on, only to discover that the babydoll-meets-Greek-goddess silhouette was perfect for a Seelie nymph! We especially like the dual-layered skirt; the overlayer is sea-foam silk, but the underlayer is actually a dreamy aqua chiffon.
