Welcome to the Faerie Couture collection! Here you will witness our creativity at its peak. Sidhe Designs was born as a faerie costuming / commissions business, and thus you will find our original and most defining works in this section of the site. We channeled a lot of passion and creativity into the Faerie Couture collection. We also took risks in order to avoid what we jokingly dubbed the "Look at me! I'm a pretty Earth faerie staring lovingly at a flower!" cliche. We hope you will find our work original and inspiring; please refer to the lines below to learn more and remember to contact us if you feel inspired to place a commission!
Being incredibly close to Nature, we couldn't help but create the Elemental line. We were unable to resist the gorgeous abundance of seasonal materials around us, nor the opportunity to take traditional symbolism and turn it on its head. This collection includes some of our earliest works -- the simply named "Ocean" and "Earth" wings, for example -- as well as new and exotic items like the "Fire Dancer" costume and the "Mermaid's Treasure" collar.
Our desire to distinguish the powerful Sidhe from the diminutive flower fairy image in pop culture gave rise to a collection of outfits for fierce and dangerous fey. The Warrior line features a mixture of polished items for the royal faerie foot-soldier and organic items for the feral, primitive brigand of the woods. This collection is still quite new but already there are whispers of armor and helmets inspired by shamanic tales and ancient Shinto gods...
Our third collection bows its head to the Celtic lore surrounding the politics of the Sidhe. According to legend, the Sidhe divided themselves according to the Seelie and Unseelie Courts, which the Seelie being the "good" and benevolent faeries and the Unseeling being the malevolent and wicked. True to their faerie nature, members of neither Court are truly good or evil, but there are distinct differences in attitude and philosophy between the two Courts. Fascinated by this concept, we began to create costumes for original characters affiliated with the Courts, such as the Seelie "Coral Muse."
