Why "Sidhe Designs"?

"Sidhe"
(pronounced "SHEE") is the Gaelic
name for the mythological race of faeries.
The Sidhe were a race of "gods but not gods"
who inhabited Ireland millennia ago but were
driven underground into faerie mounds by
their Milesian conquerors. Lore describes the
Sidhe as tall, slender, immensely talented
and brightly intelligent -- vastly different from
the bug-sized child-faeries popular in Western
media today.

We chose the name "Sidhe Designs" because
we are inspired by this lost mythology. We
are drawn to the ethereal politics of Faerie
and the endless potential for costumes.
Though today we make a bit of everything,
our name is a nod to our origins as
wing-makers -- and to our love for beautifully
complex, unconventional thought.
